12 Days in Yunnan Province, China

ISB in partnership with the Linden Centre

Where: Linden Centre, Xizhou Village, Yunnan Province 
Dates: June 12-23, 2015 (12 days and 11 nights)
Cost: 15,700RMB (All-Inclusive: Flights, Meals, Accommodation and Educational Program)
Who can attend?: ISB students going into grades 9-12 (2015-2016 school year) and ISB graduating class of 2015
Number of students: Maximum of 20 students will be accepted
(Students are admitted on a first come, first admitted basis)
How do you pay?: Once accepted into the summer program, please pay 15,700RMB in cash to the ISB Box Office and they will issue you a receipt

How will ISB students benefit from this learning opportunity?

  • Receive an 'ISB Experiential Learning Internship' credential for your participation in the program - students may add this to their cv/resume and have our HS counselors articulate this credential to universities/colleges
  • Experience can contribute to a student's Learning Outcomes for CAS (Must be approved by Ms. Mary Wenstrom and Ms. Angela Fournier before summer break.  Please see Ms. Wenstrom if this interests you.)
  • Advance your proficiency in Chinese Language skills with authentic, real-world, daily application
  • Learn about China's rich history by visiting several historical sites and temples that connect to our Chinese Language Program's curriculum
  • Participate in several Chinese Cultural Activities
  • Build upon your media, film and technology skills by working on a video project for ISB

Typical day:

8:00am: Breakfast
9:00-11:00: Chinese Integration Activity & Filming
11:00-12:00: Lunch
12:00 - 5:00pm: Chinese Integration Activity & Filming
5:00pm - 6:00pm: Dinner
6:00pm - 8:00pm: Free Time or Evening Program
8:00pm-10:00pm: Video Editing/Prep for next day
10:30pm: Lights out

  • Three Course Tea Tasting
  • Tea Plantation Tour
  • Xizhou Bike Tour: Er'hai Lake & nearby villages
  • Dongjing Music Lessons
  • Taichi Class
  • Dumpling Cooking Class
  • Xizhou Baba Cooking Class
  • Calligraphy Class
  • Meeting and filming Local Dali Business Owners
  • Xizhou Village & Morning Market Walking Tour
  • Shaba Wednesday Market
  • Weishan Tour - Full day
